Madelon Peters
Madelon Peters is professor of experimental health psychology at the department of Clinical Psychological Science, Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Her main area of research concerns psychological risk and resilience factors for the transition from acute to chronic pain. In addition to psychological vulnerabilities, she is interested in resilience factors, more specifically in the role of optimism She developed and tested a positive psychology web-based intervention for chronic pain, which is made available for health care providers. Her latest work concentrates on the prediction and prevention of persistent pain after surgery. Currently, she leads two multicenter clinical trials on the prevention of chronic post-operative pain after breast cancer surgery and after spinal fusion surgery.
